Eight festive stamps and a Miniature Sheet showing Father Christmas in different locations around Jersey will be issued by Jersey Post on 21 November 2016.
The stamps have been illustrated by Andrew Farley and portray Father Christmas in his traditional red suit, collecting and delivering parcels all over the Island. A jolly Father Christmas can be seen smiling in front of the iconic Corbière Lighthouse, guiding his sleigh past Elizabeth Castle and even collecting a sack of presents from Jersey Post Headquarters.
Melanie Gouzinis, Head of Philatelic at Jersey Post explains: “Father Christmas features so much during the festive season and we thought it would be fun for people to see him in familiar places around the Island. We have also produced a festive Miniature Sheet which shows Father Christmas delivering presents to a traditional Jersey farmhouse.”
As usual, Jersey Post has included special stamp tariffs to allow the people of Jersey to send their Christmas cards for less during the beginning of the festive period. Four of the stamps have been specially produced with reduced rates, which can be used between 21 November and 9 December. Two stamps are for use on larger items of post to Jersey and to the UK, while two bear the standard tariffs for local and UK letters, which can be used after the promotional period. The Miniature Sheet value can be used to send packets up to 250g to the United Kingdom.
Jersey Post’s Father Christmas in Jersey stamps will be available to buy from all branches of Jersey Post from 21 November 2016. Philatelic stamp products such as sets of stamps, Miniature Sheets, First Day Covers and Presentation Packs will be available from the Jersey post offices at Broad Street, St Helier and Rue Des Pres, St Saviour on issue day and can be ordered now at www.jerseystamps.com or by telephoning the Jersey Philatelic Bureau on: 00 44 (0)1534 516320.
