Christmas jumpers are the subject of Jersey Post’s 2018 Christmas stamp issue which will be released on 19 November. Designed by True North, the eight self-adhesive stamps have been created with cut-out necklines so that the stamps appear as folded jumpers when applied to items of mail.
“Christmas jumpers have become hugely popular in the lead up to Christmas over recent years and we really wanted to capture the fun of this festive tradition,” explains James Dann, Philatelic Researcher at Jersey Post. “The stitched background effect gives the feel of a cosy hand-knitted jumper, whilst the bold and colourful designs reflect the jollity of the season. We’re sure the designs will raise a few smiles and the self-adhesive backing will make it easier for those sending lots of Christmas cards.”
As in previous years, Jersey Post has included special stamp tariffs in this Christmas set to allow the people of Jersey to send their Christmas cards for less during the beginning of the festive period. Four of the stamps have been specially produced with reduced rates, which can be used between 19 November and 7 December. Two stamps are for use on larger items of post to Jersey and to the UK, while two bear the standard tariffs for local and UK letters, which can be used after the promotional period.
