Visiting Naval Vessels

A new Post & Go design, Visiting Naval Vessels, will be launched by Jersey Post on 14 February 2018 at Spring Stampex in London. The stamps will be available to vend from Jersey Post’s JE01 kiosk, alongside Jersey Crest stamps printed with a special exhibition overprint.

The Jersey Boat Show takes place in and around St Helier Marinas over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend annually. Now firmly ensconced in the Island’s calendar, it provides an opportunity to show case Jersey’s marine leisure industry to a wider audience. Every year, a vessel from the Royal Naval fleet visits Jersey for the duration of the Show and members of the public are often permitted to board and view these magnificent ships.

“The six stamps feature some of the Royal Naval Vessels that have taken part in the Jersey Boat Show, an annual event first staged in 2008,” explains Melanie Gouzinis, Head of Philatelic at Jersey Post, “and they have been beautifully illustrated by Andrew Robinson. As well as being available from Jersey Post’s JE01 Post & Go kiosk during the exhibition, they will also be available from the JE02 kiosk at Jersey’s main Broad Street post office in St Helier.”

The ships featured in this issue are HMS Severn – a River-class offshore patrol vessel, HMS Kent – a Type 23 Duke class frigate, HMS York – a Batch III Type 42 destroyer and three ships from the First Patrol Boat Squadron: HMS Raider, HMS Ranger and HMS Trumpeter.

This year, Spring Stampex will take place from 14-17 February at the Business Design Centre in London.
