Stamps issued by Jersey Post were well received by collectors at the China 2016 Asian International Stamp Exhibition, held in Nanning, Guangxi province earlier this month.
The exhibition, which took place from 2 – 6 December, was attended by Melanie Gouzinis, Head of Philatelic at Jersey Post along with designers of Jersey stamps, Wang Huming and Martin Mörck who staged a signing-event on the Jersey Post stand.
Mrs Gouzinis explains: “This was the first time an international stamp exhibition was hosted in a province in China and it was hugely successful, with collectors of all ages flocking to the stands. Both Wang Huming and Martin Mörck are famous amongst Chinese collectors who were incredibly excited to have the opportunity to meet them and to ask them to sign their Jersey stamp products”.
Of particular interest to collectors in China are Jersey’s Lunar New Year stamps, designed by Wang Huming, and the series ‘Links with China’ which is a collaboration between both artists.
The 2015 designs in the ‘Links with China’ issue featured garden flowers and, earlier this year, these stamps gained third prize in the 12th China Annual Best Foreign Stamp Poll in the category for ‘best stamp design’.Philatelic stamp products such as sets of stamps, Miniature Sheets, First Day Covers and Presentation Packs are available from the Jersey post offices at Broad Street, St Helier and Rue Des Pres, St Saviour and can be ordered now at www.jerseystamps.com or by telephoning the Jersey Philatelic Bureau on: 00 44 (0)1534 516320.
